How to access and interpret your website analytics data.

Analytics help you understand how visitors interact with your website. Here's how to make sense of the data.

Accessing Analytics

Depending on your setup, you can view analytics via:

  • Google Analytics: analytics.google.com
  • Cloudflare Analytics: Via your Cloudflare dashboard
  • Client Portal: Simplified reports in your dashboard

Key Metrics to Watch

Traffic Metrics

  • Users: Unique visitors to your site
  • Sessions: Total visits (one user can have multiple sessions)
  • Page Views: Total pages viewed
  • Traffic Sources: Where visitors come from (search, social, direct, referral)

Engagement Metrics

  • Bounce Rate: % of visitors who leave after one page (lower is better)
  • Average Session Duration: How long visitors stay
  • Pages per Session: How many pages visitors view

Conversion Metrics

  • Goal Completions: Form submissions, purchases, etc.
  • Conversion Rate: % of visitors who take desired actions

What's a Good Benchmark?

Industry averages for business websites:

  • Bounce Rate: 40-60% is typical
  • Session Duration: 2-3 minutes is good
  • Conversion Rate: 2-5% is average
