Preparing Your Content

Guidelines for gathering and organizing content for your new website.

Last updated: December 1, 2024

Great websites need great content. This guide helps you prepare the text, images, and other materials we'll need for your project.

Text Content

For each page, we'll need:

  • Headlines: Clear, compelling headers for each section
  • Body copy: The main text content
  • Calls to action: What you want visitors to do
  • Meta descriptions: Brief summaries for search engines (we can help with these)

Content Tips

  • Write for your audience, not yourself
  • Keep paragraphs short (2-3 sentences)
  • Use bullet points for easy scanning
  • Include keywords naturally for SEO
  • Proofread everything before sending

Images

High-quality images make a huge difference:

  • Resolution: Minimum 1920px wide for hero images
  • Format: JPG for photos, PNG for graphics with transparency
  • Quality: Original, uncompressed files when possible
  • Rights: Ensure you have permission to use all images

Image Sources

If you need stock images, we recommend:

  • Unsplash - Free high-quality photos
  • Pexels - Free stock photos and videos
  • Shutterstock - Premium stock images (paid)

Brand Assets

Please provide:

  • Logo: Vector format (SVG, AI, or EPS) if available, plus PNG
  • Brand colors: Hex codes or Pantone values
  • Fonts: Font files or names if using custom typography
  • Brand guidelines: If you have a brand style guide

How to Send Content

You can share content with us via:

  • Google Drive/Dropbox: Share a folder with organized files
  • Email: For smaller files and text content
  • Google Docs: Great for text content we can comment on
